My honest story about weight loss, cravings, motivation, and trying to stay balanced. This is my dieting journey — what worked, what didn’t, and why I eventually stopped.
You know, I spent a period of time dieting seriously. Not the fake kind of diet people talk about these days — I mean a real diet that actually gave results. 😁
I lost weight, enjoyed my meals, and felt happy doing it. But now, that whole diet routine has completely disappeared from my life. 🤭
And that’s the story I’m about to tell.
What Dieting Really Means
When many people hear the word “diet,” they immediately think it means starving yourself and avoiding all the foods you love.
Honestly, dieting does not mean living on salad leaves and suffering every day.
Dieting really means having balanced meals in the right portions.
You also can’t simply copy someone else’s diet and expect it to work for you. You can get ideas from others, but the same plan won’t suit everyone.
Your height, weight, age, and overall health all affect how many calories you need each day.
What I Ate During My Diet
For me personally, a 1400-calorie plan worked well at that time.
Within those calories, I focused on meals that were higher in protein and lower in carbs.
During my dieting journey, I focused on balanced meals rather than starving.
I didn’t completely cut carbs out.
The meals in the photos below are some of the breakfasts I used to eat during that time. Most plates were around 400–500 calories and nutritionally balanced.
(No foods made with refined flour.)
For lunch, I usually had:
- 100g of rice
- 150g–180g of chicken or fish
- Vegetables
For dinner, I avoided carbs and focused on protein plus other nutrients.

These were some of the simple meals I started eating during my dieting journey.
Nothing fancy… just basic, homemade food that actually kept me full and satisfied.
I didn’t follow any strict meal plan… I just tried to eat a bit smarter each day.
Yes… I Actually Lost Weight
Honestly, I really did lose weight.
I enjoyed following that diet too. I used to love checking the scale and seeing the numbers go down. 😁
If you want to diet, don’t think you need to stop eating.
You still need proper nutritious meals. Otherwise, you can end up feeling weak and tired, struggling to even get through normal daily tasks.
Some people say, “Dieting makes me feel lifeless.”
That usually happens when dieting is done the wrong way.
If you eat one lettuce leaf and drink water all day, of course you’ll feel awful. 😬
So… Did It Actually Work? 🤔
At first, I didn’t notice much change… but slowly, things started to feel different.
You’re probably wondering…
If I lost weight and enjoyed it, why did I stop?
Well… here’s the reason. 😁
During that time, we went on an 8-day trip. It was a long-distance trip, so with travel days included, it became 10 days in total.
Now tell me…
How are you supposed to count calories while traveling?
It ruins the mood of the trip.
And of course, when you’re away from home for 10 days, you end up enjoying restaurant food and snacks too.
We came back from that trip last November.
From that day until now…
My diet has been permanently “starting tomorrow.” 🤭

My Real Problem Now 😬
No matter what, I can’t get my motivation back.
My mind just says:
“Go on… eat that too.”
Now don’t imagine I’m eating nonstop like a machine. 😄 I’m really not.
I actually don’t eat huge amounts.
But sweet things…
- Chocolate 🍫
- Biscuits 🍪
- Snacks 🍟
…those get eaten a little too often.
That’s the real problem.
At this point, the McDonald’s near my house needs to be removed from existence. 😕 Somehow I end up there at least once or twice a week.
Sometimes even I’m surprised that I once managed to diet so seriously. 🤭
My Honest Thoughts About Weight
I know I’ve gained some weight.
Sometimes I feel less comfortable than I used to.
But my husband always says:
“You’re not unattractive. If you genuinely want to diet, do it. But don’t do it because of pressure from other people.”
And honestly… he’s right.
Other people’s opinions about my weight don’t improve my life.
Honestly… this journey taught me more about myself than just losing weight.

I Don’t Want to Be Skinny Anymore — Just Healthy
I also don’t want to become too thin just for the sake of weight loss.
That wouldn’t suit me either.
When my face gets too slim, I feel like I look tired and less healthy.
I never wanted to become super thin.
I only wanted to reduce the belly a little and keep my weight under control.
Looking back at my dieting journey, I realize balance matters more than perfection.
That’s all.

Final Question 😄
For now, I’m just trying to focus on balance instead of chasing perfection.
These days, I try to make more balanced choices with simple homemade meals — like my Healthy Veggie Masala Dosa whenever I can.
It’s not perfect… but it’s real, and it works for me.
So tell me…
Who else feels like they gain weight just by looking at food? 😬👇
