Blue fenugreek leaves porridge in Sri Lanka

This morning, I was thinking of drinking a cup of Blue fenugreek leaves porridge and eating a Samaposha Aggala. But when I saw the kochi pods growing on the tree, I thought of making a delicious coconut sambol and eating it with bread. ☺️

When we were kids, we really didn’t like eating green porridge.. When we made green porridge in the morning, our house was like a funeral..🀣 We are watching the three of us.. Our mother, who knows that scene, would definitely make a pot of green porridge on both weekends at that time.. The only thing she did was green porridge in the morning.. She wouldn’t make anything else to eat. Our mother did that work out of spite.. Why don’t we drink that porridge after all? We’ll be hungry until noon.

Mom would divide the porridge into the same plates we ate on. At that time, there were five deep white porcelain plates for the five of us to eat on. They were called “bokutu plates.” So, as well as eating rice, they could also share things like porridge and soup.

Mom divides the porridge into those plates and puts it in a row on the table, telling it to be put out.. Then mom goes, takes dad’s porridge plate and gives it to dad.. Because dad is getting ready to go to work, while he is getting ready, mom comes and serves him porridge in spoonful’s. Then it gets a little late.. In that alley, the three of us add three or seven spoons of sugar from the sugar bottle to the porridge that was supposed to be put out and stir it without making a sound..πŸ˜πŸ™ˆ (In those days, there was no way to drink porridge..)

Then, when the Blue fenugreek leaves porridge is done, I drink it. Now I add sugar. With good grief, the porridge goes down my throat without any problems..🀣 At that time, my sister and I did more of that work than my sister..

Now I laugh when I remember them..😁 Even more so when I remember that I drank them with sugar in the green leaves, I think “Eya bum. I wonder what kind of pig drink that was..🀣

Whatever it is, those memories are very beautiful..❀️
