Today I’m going to share how to make Crispy Garlic Butter Potatoes Recipe – my family’s absolute favorite! It’s super easy! You can make it in about half an hour using common ingredients you already have at home.
I actually learned this recipe from my mother. Whenever she makes these potatoes for lunch, everyone at home eats until they’re completely full. They taste just like the garlic potatoes from the Araliya Mansion Restaurant! The kids love them too.
Ingredients for Crispy Garlic Butter Potatoes Recipe
- 1 kg potatoes (medium-sized)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 garlic bulb (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- A pinch of salt
- A bit of pepper
- A few sprigs of thyme
- A pinch of chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, wash the potatoes nicely and cut them into pieces with the skin on. I usually cut them into quarters, but you can cut them however you prefer. It’s better to keep the pieces a bit larger; otherwise, they’ll burn too quickly.
Place a pan on the stove and add the butter. Once the butter has melted, add the garlic and fry for about 2-3 minutes. (Be careful – if the garlic burns it will taste bitter, which is really bad).
Now add salt, pepper, and thyme and mix together.
Put the potatoes in a large bowl and mix well with the olive oil and some salt. I prefer to mix them by hand. That way, the oil coats every side of the potatoes.
Now place the potatoes on a baking sheet. Try to spread them out as much as possible; don’t let them pile up on top of each other.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.
When the potatoes start to turn a bit red, take them out of the oven, pour the garlic-butter mixture over them, and put them back in the oven. Bake for another 15 minutes or so.
Finally, take them out of the oven, add a little extra butter on top, sprinkle with thyme leaves and serve hot.

My Tips
- Don’t cut the potatoes and leave them in water the day before. They won’t get crispy that way.
- They’re best eaten hot! They lose some of their crispiness as they cool down.
- I usually make this with grilled chicken. My grandfather told me to eat it with cabbage salad. That’s really delicious too!
Let me share a little secret. My husband loves Crispy Garlic Butter Potatoes Recipe. He says once I make these garlic potatoes, he can’t resist the taste. He’s always asking me to make them again and again!
If you can, try making this – you’ll love it. It’s easy and delicious!
